I’m sat here, between meetings, at a Land Transport Authority (LTA) Singapore MRT station, cramming in some work and emails. Behind me is a mother nursing her new baby.
In a circular economy I’m imagining the future of MRT stations, maybe something like:
booths to offer space for both of us. Perhaps some additional income could be generated from the worker for use of quiet working space and a drink.
spaces designed for flexibility where the future sees greater passenger numbers (need more platform space) or flex in interest from transient workers or new mothers out exploring (more booth space)
start up spaces where SMEs can’t afford corporate offices
Looking at the vast view of buildings (existing and emerging) in Singapore, I can’t help think there must be another way to create our built environment. Rather hashtag#reusing what we already have to create income, than making new and using up the planets resources.
